The Real Thing is far better than the photos suggest

The basin arrived today, pack was opened to check it was in good order.  It was all in good order. It comes exceedingly well packaged in a sturdy cardboard box, very well cushioned all round and corners and wrapped in good quality plastic.

From a Design standpoint, it is exceptionally good-looking. This is the sort of basin design quality you might find in luxury outlets, from Villeroy & Boch and similar,  for several hundreds of £ pounds. Excellent attention to detail, the tile covering the drain levels nicely with the bottom of the basin, leaving a tiny-tiny gap only. It looks so smart! The straight square lines and 90 degrees square angles add to the overall impression and impart an understated richness to the design.

The finish is superb too. High gloss polished, pre-cut holes for the tap and drainage appear perfect, no sharp or uneven edges at all. It's brand new, so only time will tell how it performs by comparison to traditional vitreous porcelain. This stone resin material is very smart though and it looks better because there is no visible porosity as it is often the case with vitreous porcelain, where some porosity can be seen through the vitreous glaze on close inspection.  The polish on these DUROVIN basins is immaculate, absolutely flawless. Think "Rolls-Royce" smooth, it is a bit like that. It should retain its high-gloss well if washed with a soft sponge and rinsed.

How does it feel?... HEAVY! These basins are sturdy and very heavy. They feel rock-solid and being a hard stone-resin, it is far less likely to chip than ceramic, vitreous china and porcelain basins. The weight should be taken into account when fixing to the wall and personally I am going to install it attached to the wall with the heavy fittings that come with it, plus sitting on a smart shelf which is itself fixed to the wall with heavy-duty fittings as well. If done properly, the weight should not be a problem at all. Any decent plumber or bathroom fitter will know exactly what to do.

So... Would I recommend it!?... Absolutely. It will completely transform and elevate your bathroom into a very classy next level.
